Terms of Service

1. Who We Are

Langik is run by Roman Ogoreltsev, a private individual based in Hungary ("we", "us"). These terms are the agreement between you and us for using the Langik website, reader app and browser extension.

2. Accepting These Terms

By creating an account you accept these terms. How we handle your personal data is explained in our Privacy Policy.

3. The Service

Langik is an AI-powered reader that helps users read and understand books in foreign languages. The service includes:

  • •Book upload and reading for EPUB, PDF, MOBI, AZW3 and FB2 files
  • •AI-powered translations and explanations
  • •Progress synchronization across devices
  • •Personal vocabulary and learning tools
  • •AI Voice text-to-speech powered by Microsoft Azure and OpenAI (Premium)

4. Price

Langik is currently free of charge. Some features are marked Premium, but paid plans are not offered yet. Free accounts have usage limits, such as the number of books and daily AI usage, which are shown in the app. If we introduce paid plans, we will publish their price and terms before you can buy them, and you will never be charged without your explicit order.

5. Your Account

  • •You must be at least 16 years old to create an account.
  • •Give accurate account information and keep your login secure. Tell us if you think someone else is using your account.
  • •One account is for one person.

6. Your Content

  • •You keep all rights to the books, notes and other content you upload or create.
  • •Only upload content you have the right to use — for example, books you own or that are in the public domain.
  • •You allow us to store, process and display your content only as far as needed to provide the service to you, including sending passages you select to our AI providers. We do not publish your content or use it to train AI models.

7. Acceptable Use

You must not:

  • •Upload or share illegal content, or content that infringes someone else's rights
  • •Upload malware or try to break, overload or gain unauthorised access to the service
  • •Get around usage limits, or access the service with bots or scrapers
  • •Use the AI features to create illegal or harmful content

To report illegal content, email us at the address above with the exact location of the content and why you believe it is illegal. If we remove or restrict your content, we will tell you why, and you can ask us to review that decision.

8. AI Features

Translations, explanations, chat answers and AI voices are generated automatically and can be wrong or incomplete. They are learning aids, not professional advice — check anything important against a reliable source.

9. Our Intellectual Property

Langik's software, design and other materials are protected by intellectual property laws. You may use them only to use the service.

10. Availability and Changes to the Service

We work to keep Langik available, but we cannot guarantee it will always be uninterrupted or error-free. We may improve, change or remove features. If we plan to shut down Langik entirely, we will tell you at least 30 days in advance so you can get a copy of your data.

11. Liability

We are liable without limitation for damage caused intentionally or through gross negligence, for harm to life, body or health, and wherever the law does not allow liability to be limited. Because Langik is provided free of charge, we are otherwise not liable for damage caused by slight negligence, to the extent the law permits. Nothing in these terms affects your statutory rights as a consumer.

12. Ending the Agreement

  • •You can stop using Langik at any time and delete your account yourself in Settings; it is erased right away.
  • •We may suspend or close your account only for a serious or repeated breach of these terms, illegal use, or to protect other users or the service. We will tell you the reason in advance, unless the law or urgency prevents it, and give you the chance to respond.

13. Changes to These Terms

If we change these terms, we will email you at least 30 days before the changes apply. If you do not agree, you can delete your account before then. Changes never apply to the past.

14. Governing Law and Complaints

  • •These terms are governed by Hungarian law. If you are a consumer living in another EU country, you also keep the protection of the mandatory consumer laws of your country, and you may bring a claim in the courts where you live.
  • •If you have a complaint, email us first — we answer within 30 days.
  • •If you live in Hungary, you can also turn to the conciliation body (békéltető testület) of your county or of Budapest.
